Job Summary

$40,022 - $61,823 / year DOQ + Full-Time County Benefits 

James City County Parks & Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic individual with high professionalism and ability to work in a team environment to coordinate the Elementary Before & After School and Summer Camp Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include planning daily programs, activity leadership, staff supervision, program development, program and staff evaluation and record keeping.
  • Will directly oversee and direct the operation of state licensed programs.
  • Requires considerable knowledge of child growth/development, safety and health practices, and experience working with children in a recreational, educational or state licensed day care program setting.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, children, parents and co-workers.
  • Work schedule is generally Mon. – Fri., 40 hrs/wk between the hours of 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. to include daily program site hours from 7:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. during before and after school program months, office hours, and occasional evenings and/or Saturdays.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Education or related field supplemented with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Post-offer requirements include a drug screen, credential, criminal history, and driving record and sex offender checks.
  • Post-hire requirements include a CPS Registry check, fingerprints, tuberculosis test, Medicine Administration Training (MAT), and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification.
