This paid internship offers the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the HVAC field and learn from certified professionals who keep building environments safe and comfortable. Under supervision, interns will learn to perform skilled heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) craft work, including installation, servicing, and maintenance of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems in all County facilities.
The schedule for this internship is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Internship runs from June 16th, 2026 to August 14th, 2026

Responsibilities
• Under the instruction and supervision of a designated instructor, learn to maintain commercial rooftop HVAC units, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, split systems, unit heaters, water source equipment, exhaust fans, and water heaters.
• Gains knowledge of installation services and maintenance of refrigeration equipment, including ice machines and water fountains.
• Learns about the basic operation of HVAC systems, including thermostats, ductwork, and refrigerant lines.
• Learns to organize, plan, and implement a maintenance program for HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Shadows experienced professionals and attends team meetings or training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Must be a rising or current high school senior, or any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, including setting and meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Skill in the use of computer software, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
• Some knowledge of the safe and effective use of hand and power tools and other equipment of the mechanical trade.
• Physically able to assist with tasks that may require lifting (up to 25 lbs.), climbing ladders, or standing for extended periods (accommodations available as needed).
