Job Summary

$35,138 - $42,000 / year DOQ + Full-Time County Benefits 

The Night Shift Fitness Attendant is responsible for overseeing the fitness center during evening and closing hours; typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 12-9 p.m. and occasional weekends as needed. Provides excellent customer service, monitoring the fitness area, assisting members with equipment and facility questions, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and enforcing established facility policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet and provide friendly customer service to members and guests entering the fitness area.
• Monitor the fitness center to promote a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment.
• Provide basic orientation and assistance with cardiovascular and strength-training equipment.
• Explain proper equipment use and reinforce safe exercise practices within the scope of the position.
• Observe members for unsafe equipment use and address concerns appropriately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitness equipment and surrounding areas.
• Wipe down and sanitize equipment and high-touch surfaces according to facility procedures throughout shift.
• Inspect equipment and report damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
• Ensure fitness center rules, policies, and procedures are followed.
• Assist members with questions regarding facility services, programs, classes, and schedules.
• Restock cleaning supplies, towels, and other fitness center supplies as needed.
• Assist with basic first aid or emergency response within the employee's training and certification.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; some experience which shall have involved assisting the public and operation of fitness equipment.
• Must possess reliable transportation to work site(s).
• Must possess or be able to obtain within 60 days of hire, certification from the American Red Cross in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service including setting and meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; fitness systems and proper techniques.
• Skill in excellent customer service; the use of basic tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; enforce operating policies and procedures in an effective and courteous manner; repair fitness equipment.
