Job Summary

Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary and limited urgent care services in a primary care setting. This position performs advanced clinical work delivering high-quality patient care within the scope of a primary care center.

Responsibilities:

• Provides primary care in all facets of a medical center.
• Conducts physical exams and patient assessments, establishes treatment plans, orders appropriate diagnostic tests and prescribes appropriate medications within parameters of established and approved formulary, as defined by the State Boards of Medicine and
Nursing, as well as the Scope of Practice as defined by national professional group.
• Assists with supervision of medical staff to include paid and volunteer registered nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, certified nurse assistants and medical assistants and clinical assistants; acts as immediate supervisor to assigned clinical staff.
• Acts as care coordinator; arranges referrals to appropriate specialists or therapies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in a related field; some related experience.
• Must possess reliable transportation to work site(s).
• Requires a Family Nurse Practitioner license from the Commonwealth of Virginia; must be certified in specialty; must possess certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Must be eligible for Virginia prescriptive authority and have related work experience.
• Knowledge of public health clinical care principles and practices, and wellness concepts.
• Skill in diagnostics.
• Ability to learn and use electronic medical record system for patient data entry and management; work independently; establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, nurses, coworkers, volunteers and the public; work under pressure in a fast- paced clinic setting; work and communicate effectively with persons of multicultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
