James City County Human Resource Department is seeking an individual to join our team as a Recruitment Specialist. The successful candidate will focus on the day-to-day administration of recruitment, retention, and engagement activities for the County.

There are 3 levels of Human Resource Specialist distinguished by the level of work performed and the qualifications of the employee.

Human Resource Specialist I: $58,095 - $90,804 / year DOQ
Human Resource Specialist II: $62,200 - $97,371 / year DOQ
Human Resource Specialist III: $66,613 - $104,429 / year DOQ

As Our Recruitment Specialist, You'll:

  • Lead Recruitment Efforts: Coordinate job advertising, represent the County at job fairs, and extend job offers that attract top talent.
  • Foster Relationships: Establish and maintain valuable connections with universities, colleges, and vocational institutions to source exceptional candidates.
  • Innovate and Improve: Stay ahead of employment trends and recommend policy changes to keep our practices cutting-edge and compliant with current laws.
  • Streamline Employment Processes: Assist with providing guidance on employment policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and efficiency throughout the hiring process.
  • Think Ahead: Connect with past applicants and passive candidates to enhance engagement with prospective employees.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in Human Resource Management or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in recruitment, community outreach, and HR practices.
  • Proficient in creating visually appealing job advertisements for social media platforms. 
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A commitment to exceptional customer service and the ability to work under pressure.
