James City County's Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic individual with high professionalism and ability to work in a team environment to coordinate the Elementary Before & After School and Summer Camp Programs.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include planning daily programs, activity leadership, staff supervision, program development, program and staff evaluation and record keeping. Will directly oversee and direct the operation of state licensed programs. Requires considerable knowledge of child growth/development, safety and health practices, and experience working with children in a recreational, educational or state licensed day care program setting. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, children, parents and co-workers. Work schedule is generally Mon. – Fri., 40 hrs/wk between the hours of 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. to include daily program site hours from 7:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. during before and after school program months, office hours, and occasional evenings and/or Saturdays.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Education or related field supplemented with supervisory experience preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Post-offer requirements include a drug screen, credential, criminal history, and driving record and sex offender checks. Post-hire requirements include a CPS Registry check, fingerprints, tuberculosis test, Medicine Administration Training (MAT), and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification.
